“Chip”, a Film Soundtrack

During the 2014 spring semseter, thanks to the videos of the duos and trios we had made available to the public via our YouTube channel, we were approached by Nancy Kiang, a NYC-based film director, to compose original music as a soundtrack for a short film she shot in South Africa. As the berimbau’s ancestors are found throughout southern Africa, the connection to that region was compelling and we naturally accepted the project. The themes composed for the film provided fertile ground for my compositions, Berimbau Duo no. 6 and Berimbau Quartet no. 1.

Good news for this project!

“Chip” has been selected for it festival world premiere in South Africa, at the Jozi Film Festival, February 20-22, 2015, in Johannesburg.

Additionally, it will have its US premiere at the Flathead Lake Cinemafest in Polson, Montana, January 23-25, 2015.
